The P50G10 is my second HD Plasma experience, the first being a 2004 Panasonic, which still looks and works quite well. It has found another spot in our home to make room for the new G10 in our family room. When searching for and finally selecting the new Panasonic G10, I was comparing choices against this first experience considering both the manufacturer and the plasma technology. While I have a few smaller sized LCD’s, mostly in the 20-32″ range, I have never been overly impressed with the picture. The seem a bit cartoonish, even in HD mode, so I quickly settled on a plasma as my technology choice. Having made that decision the alternatives in terms of manufacturers narrowed quickly. Wh Pioneer exiting the Plasma business, and considering my experience with my original Panasonic plasma the brand decision was made. Selecting which model from Panasonic boiled down to scouring the 2009 product announcements and available reviews (CNET), and making the trade-offs on size, cost and availability. This all led me to the P50G10, which was a good fit on all points. I have had the unit installed and working for 4 weeks now, and must say its been an extremely satisfying time. The G10 is a major step up, from my previous plasma, in terms of picture, inputs i.e. 3 HDMI vs 1, and ability to control each picture setting independently. I have tweaked the picture setting on the Standard and THX settings a bit to sharpen and brighten the picture a bit, but most of the other settings are very good out of the box. As the unit is stand mounted, and in a room with mostly indirect and overhead lighting there are no issues with glare or light reflection, from the main glass or its glossy black bezel. In the process I also moved up to a Panasonic BMP-BD60 (will write a separate review on it) Blu Ray player and the 1080P picture is nothing short of amazing. As these are both Panasonic units they inter-operate with VieraLink which simplifies and automates the way the two units operate together, a nice but not essential feature. I setup a Wireless ethernet bridge (Linksys WET54G) to feed the VieraCast function on the G10, and it works flawlessly. At this time the amount of content available is limited, but one can see the potential, if Panasonic can bring more content services to this function. The G10 does employ a set of power consumption controls. There are both Input Idle and In-Activity based auto-power off modes to save on power consumption, which is good as plasma’s are a bit power hungry. To be balanced the G10 does have a few shortcomings. The sound from the onboard speakers is a bit thin. You can mitigate this some by pumping up the Bass control and turning on the Bass Boost, but its just not a rich sound experience. I think Panasonic can do better with some higher quality speakers and a small sub-woofer. I, and I suspect most others, have a surround system connected and utilize it for a better sound experience. I also preferred when Panasonic placed the additional inputs into a trap door on the front of the plasma, the G10 has these on the left (facing) edge. To me it was more convenient and accessible to have these set of inputs up-front. All in all, the G10 is a high quality Plasma with terrific features and future expandability. If offers a near perfect picture across multiple inputs and types of content. senior life insurance

(Electronics) I picked up the Samsung 51″ D550 from Sears on the 12th. I’d only discovered the TV online a couple hours before buying it. Always wanted a Samsung and once I saw it in the store, I was sold. Had to have it. Received a pair [2] of Samsung’s new 3100 3D glasses. [Will write a separate review for those.] Beware, this TV is HUGE. I swear, it didn’t look this big in the store.Picture Quality is outstanding. Break-in isn’t necessary. I ran slides for a day before using the TV regularly. No IR at all. Blacks are deep and rich, Colors are rich and life-like. I haven’t had it professionally calibrated, just using settings I’ve found on the AVS forum and tweaking them to my likes.Settings are very, very customizable. SD programs are good. Soft at times but very watchable. Of course, HD/Blu-Ray/DVD content is out of this world. Audio is surprisingly excellent. Very clear and loud. I rarely go up above 11.Also no buzzing. I heard a slight noise when I set the picture settings to Dynamic but it isn’t an issue since I won’t be using. [That setting is too bright and saturated for my tastes.]3D is also great. I don’t really have much experience in this area since this is my first 3D TV. There was no ghosting, trailing, or halo-effect. Same for the 2D to 3D conversion. I watched Avatar converted and the actual Tron: Legacy 3D blu-ray and both films look great. For anyone who loves the “Soap Opera” effect, Cinema Smooth works great. I love the effect so I’ve left it on.Overall, it’s a great TV. Very happy with the purchase it. Great plasma. Lush colors, Deep Blacks, 3D, and great SD/HD quality. life insurance company

Nice Design, but “green tint” problem…, 2011-03-27This review is from: Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST30 50-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTVI also have an issue with a “green tint” or “blobs” in various areas of the screen. The green makes it difficult to judge the quality of the television because I keep focusing on the problem areas. Not sure if this is a problem with this series or if the TV was damaged during shipment. Amazon is sending a replacement, and I will update once the next set arrives. UPDATE 04/04/11:Received my replacement set. Fired it up and immediately started running break-in slides to search for any green tint that appeared with the previous panel. Once again, the green tint/blobs appeared on the grey scale slides, however, the green was much lighter with this panel and I can live with it. After two TV’s and reading reviews online, this appears to be a common problem with this set. The green blobs are rumored to fade as the panel ages. I’ve run 100 hours of break-in slides and have seen no reduction. Design: 3/5The shiny, black bezel looks great. Definitely an improvement over my previous Pansonic plasma. The base swivels although it is “stiff” and awkard. Compared to the design of the Samsung plasmas, I’d rate the design a 3 out of 5. Picture: 4/5Post break-in slides (100 hours) and calibration using the D-nice settings, the picture looks great. The colors are excellent, and the blacks are much better than my previous plasma. There are a few minor problems. First, the green tint appears when a grey images on is on the tv. In fast moving scenes, the picture seems to fall apart or blur… and dark scenes can become grainy from time to time. Overall, the picture is fantastic and the pros for outweight the cons. Viera Cast/3d: 5/5Love the ability to pull up Netflix, Skype, and Facebook on the TV screen along with the other various apps availabe in Viera Cast. Have had no problems with 3d or 2d to 3d conversion.Overall, I’m very satisfied with the TV for the price range. The green tint/blobs are the only thing holding me back from giving the P50ST30 a five star rating. best life insurance

We had been planning on getting a 3D TV to replace our 2D 42″ Panasonic plasma (now moved to the bedroom) We initially looked at the Samsung 58″ and the Sony 55″. When Panasonic made theirs available, we looked at it and preferred it. Recent sale offers from Amazon caused us to get it now.First, the appearance of the set is superb. Sleek, glossy black exterior with a touch of silver and a stand that looks good but doesn’t distract you from looking at the screen will fit many decors. OK, it isn’t as “skinny” (front to back) as LCD/LED sets, but we’ve always preferred the color and contrast of a plasma set. Also, 3D appears more natural in plasma. The initial setup is fairly straight forward, but there were items I encountered that I felt required more than a 0ne line on screen description or short sentence in the manual. There are many options for both video and audio, so you should find that things can be adjusted to your liking. I particularly like the THX setting.I tested the set using the Avatar disc in 3D. The quality of the picture was outstanding. In some respects, it was even better than what I’d seen in theaters. There were some scenes that had a slightly layered look in the theater, but didn’t appear so with the Panasonic. Now, if they will only release more good 3D content. The only negative in this whole experience is the firm Amazon uses to ship TVs, Home direct USA and the trucking firm used from the nearest terminal to my home. The TV was picked up in Goodyear, AZ on 12/30 and arrived in Santa Fe Springs, CA on 1/3. Its projected delivery date was 1/5. When I’d heard nothing by 1/4, I decided to speak to a “customer care” person. I really don’t know if she was a bit on the slow side or was trained to treat everyone like a 4-year old. After putting me on hold for a couple of minutes to call the terminal of American Relocation and Logistics, the trucker in CA, she came back on the line to tell me they disconnected her and would I like her to try again. Then she came back and told me the people to speak with were both on the phone and gave me their phone number to call. If she’d done that originally, I’d have spent 5 less minutes getting nowhere. I called that number and spoke to a woman who looked up the waybill number and told me that though she hadn’t received the information in their usual manner, she would schedule it for the earliest slot she had available, 1/6. When I protested it was supposed to be delivered 1/5, I got the usual meaningless apology. I provided each person I spoke with, an additional phone number I could be reached at if I was outside my home. They all took it down, but the papers the driver had only had the original. The driver and his assistant were quite professional and unpacked the set and tested it, while still standing in part of the packing box, telling me that for liability reasons, they were not permitted to attach the set to its stand. Now, either that is buried in some of Amazon’s fine print or it was a condition not included in the product description. Attaching the set to its base requires two people or Arnold Schwarzenegger. To sum it all up, the TV rates 5 stars, the shipper, minus 10.UPDATE: Almost a month later, and I am still in love with this set. I have found one very minor flaw in the design that is so limited, most people won’t be effected. You can stream Pandora Radio from the Internet with this TV, and while there is a screen saver function, there is no way (at least, that I can find) to turn the display off while listenting to Pandora. As I said, it is a very minor issue that won’t effect many folks. affordable life insurance
